Believing that every child should be given learning opportunities to reach their full potential, EEO’s mission is to provide special education and literacy outreach programs to students and their communities in Eleuthera and Harbour Island. In its first five years, EEO has been able to assess the physical and neurological impairments of over 1,200 children.

For those children with severe challenges, EEO organizes additional diagnoses and care from medical professionals to enable all members of the community to fully participate in society, regardless of ability,

EEO has created four different avenues for remediation and public outreach:
Seven resource centers with professional libraries and a computer center provide access to the latest information for the general public, as well as daily instruction for over 130 students;
A monthly seminar series equips teachers and parents with new strategies for academic and social enrichment;
Regular visits by therapists and doctors provide continuous care and assistance;
EEO publishes newspaper articles and a bi-monthly newsletter to foster community awareness about special needs and literacy development.

EEO is a registered nonprofit organization in the United States. If you are unable to attend the event but would like to make a contribution to the program, please contact EEO Director Lang Fincher at
