|Fig Tree News Team||Dear Friend of the Harbour Island Day Nursery,
We, who enjoy the beauty and charm of this wonderful island, are privileged in so many ways. We have friendly people, beautiful pink sand beaches, and warm turquoise waters.
Another very important element we are privileged to have is The Harbour Island Day Nursery & Preschool. Because of it, young families are provided with a safe and caring environment in which their pre schooler's play and learn, enabling the parents to be financially productive and positive contributors to island life.
The Nursery was established more than 40 years ago, in 1964. Starting in a small way, it now encompasses a junior and senior kindergarten, with an average enrollment of 150 island children. The kids, ranging in age from 3 months to 6 years, are also provided with two nutritious meals daily, plus vitamin supplements and healthful snacks.
As is now widely acknowledged, the years preceding grade school provide the all-important building blocks for the students….our citizens of the future. HIDN continues to provide a first class opportunity for the children enrolled, through its 15 qualified teachers and staff, inspired by their Supervisor, Mrs. Tiffany Dean.
Visitors are encouraged and very welcome any morning between 10 am & noon. It’s a chance to experience first hand the wonderful atmosphere surrounding the smiling, happy kids. Ask any islander for directions to the school…no appointment necessary!
So that the cost can remain affordable to families, the school must rely on donation to pay operating expenses not covered by tuition receipts, which represent about half of the monthly operational costs. The balance comes from the generosity of people like you.
This year’s donation requirements totals $66,000 after all paid tuitions. It can and must be achieved if the school is to continue to provide its invaluable service to the local families and indirectly to all Harbour Island visitors. Won’t you please help us out?
A great big THANK YOU, from the Children, Parents, Teachers and Trustees.
