Kimberly"Party In The Backyard (Hollywood-Style)!"
The Bahamas 33rd Anniversary
Independence Celebration
Griffith Park, just south of the Greek Theatre (Los Angeles) Saturday, 8 July 2006 (10:00a-5:00p)

Calling all Bahamian expats and friends of the Bahamas throughout Southern California for our annual no admission fee/all potluck island-style Independence Celebration blowout bash in the park!

Please RSVP to let us know what Bahamian dish you will be bringing, so that we don’t end up with nine pans of mac-and-cheese and only ONE guava duff ;-).

As always, the LA-Bahamas all-volunteer Picnic Team will coordinate the picnic details, reserve the spot, handle setup/cleanup, and bring all necessary napkins, eating and serving utensils … you just mix up the sky juice, Goombay Punch, and boil up the crab and dough, peas and rice!

Junkanoo rushout:
Authentic shields and a headdress will be on hand this year, so bring your rake and scrape, drum and horn instruments for our first-ever rushouts throughout the afternoon.

Do you have a really loud boombox that plays CDs and runs on batteries? Or a portable iPod with external speakers, and an exceptional collection of Bahamian music? Please let us know, and bring it with you to the park by 10:00a!

Jump Castle:
If you’d like to coordinate the rental, delivery and setup of a jump castle for the LA-Bahamas kids, please let us know!

March On Bahamaland:
Are you in touch with your inner decorator? Do you want to help us bring the aquamarine, gold and black to Griffith Park? Bring crepe paper, Bahamian flags and posters with you!
