Fig Tree News TeamSip sip in Nassau and online at Facebook suggests that classic Bahamian comfort food on Harbour Island (Cat Island and Andros, too) at some of our dining establishments is no longer being prepared the old-fashioned way, with butter, whole milk ... and worst of all, some chefs may be adding MSG on the side.

We've asked area restaurants to weigh in on the matter, and so far Ma Ruby's and Queen Conch confirm (no-brainer on QC, frankly) that they do not use preservatives or margarine in their preparation of the Bahamian classics.

It's bad enough that some of the cafe fryers still mix beef, chicken and fish in the same batter, nevermind certain food allergies ... but MSG???
