JudyOur library is open three days a week: Tuesdays, 10 to 6 p.m.; Fridays, noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 to 6 p.m. We have enough trained volunteer librarians to be open for these days. More days will be added when more volunteers are available.
The newly formed Book Club met on Wednesday, Feb. ll, for a lively discussion of the first five chapters of The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. We meet again on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Quite a group, lots of good discussion, and much talking and laughter.
Join us on Wednesday nights in the Reference Room.
Weather permitting, that is visibility permitting, we will be star gazing/moon gazing Friday, February 13, around 7:30 p.m. Bring a flashlight.
Our "Tell Us Your Stories", oral history night, will be scheduled for the last week in February. Details for the event will be posted - day, time, etc.
So many children are using the library after school hours that we are in need of mentors/aides to assist the young people in the Reference Room and in the North Wing. We are asking that everyone consider giving 2 hours a month to help us run the library smoothly. A "volunteer calendar" will be posted in the library for anyone to sign up. We worked together to reopen this lovely library, and now we must pull together to man it. Can you give just 2 hours a month as a public service. Think about it, 2 hours to help or inspire a young person. Mentoring or just being present can be so important to these children. Come by the library and sign up to help! It is great fun.
It does take an island!!! Working together is the key.
