|Fig Tree News Team||SeaShells at Cotton Bay
Today, Tarpum Bay Today came across some timely and important news pertaining to the Island of Eleuthera, more specifically South Eleuthera. We have exclusive news of a major resort development taking place within several months at Jacks Bay, Eleuthera, being developed by Eleuthera Properties Ltd.
The project, a mammoth one, will take place within the next few months pending approval by the Bahamian Government. The official signing of A Heads of Agreement is expected to take place in Nassau in the very near future.
It is estimated that the 100 million dollar development will take approximately ten years to be completed. The first phase of the development will encompass the sale of 114 estate lots, ranging in size from 2/3 acre to 1 ˝ acre, and the construction of a boutique hotel, based on a villa concept, called, “The Seashells Club.”
Prices for lots will become available as soon as the research and marketing analysis is completed. Meetings are presently being held with the country’s major real estate agencies, in order to determine the fair market value of the lots available.
SeaShells at Cotton Bay proposes to employ a number of Bahamians, particularly Eleutherans, in a variety of tourist related and front office jobs. The project boasts of a 1,500 acre development site situated in South Eleuthera, including the existing Davis Harbour Marina.
This grand development project will be a special one in several ways. Mainly the fact that the development is headed by majority Bahamian investors, including Mr. T. Albert Sands of Rock Sound Properties Ltd. and Rock Sound Supermarket, Mr. Franklyn Wilson of Arawak Homes in Nassau, Bahamas and Mr. Lawrence Griffin of Governors Harbour.
According to Mr. Sands, this undertaking in South Eleuthera is a dream come true for Bahamians in general, but most importantly for the island of Eleuthera and its people.
Mr. Sands notes that the time has come for Bahamians to become directly involved with the development of our country. He feels that a new, overdue era has been ushered in where Bahamians can become directly involved with the funding and management of such properties as SeaShells at Cotton Bay.
Director of Operations for the SeaShells project, Mr. Wim Steenbakkers, says that stringent building codes and landscape codes will be enforced at the upscale development. He stresses however that there will be ample considerations made for purchasers to individualize their own property. He states that The Bahamas Environment, Science & Technology (BEST) Commission is actively involved in ensuring the environmental soundness of the SeaShells undertaking. The overall project he states will enhance and uphold the ecological and environmental concerns of the Bahamian people.
Mr. Steenbakkers states that meetings with the local bankers on the island have been very encouraging. Local banks have an optimistic outlook on the viability of the development and its economic impact. Eleutherans are being encouraged to develop and initiate business ventures of their own, in order to enhance the island’s tourism appeal and take advantage of the opportunities that SeaShells at Cotton Bay will create.
Eleuthera Properties Ltd. is indeed very optimistic about the success of this project and the future of South Eleuthera, as Eleuthera is an ideal place for such developments. The funding is in place and the project is ready to go says Mr. Steenbakkers.
