KimberlyWell, in school we were taught that he first landed on San Salvador. Years later we found out that Cat Island at one time had been called San Salvador, too ... so who's to guess whether he landed first at Watling's Island [now known as San Salvador], Rum Cay, Samana Cay or Cat Island? Then you've got to deal with the pesky DR folks who insist that Columbus first landed in the Dominican Republic part of Hispaniola ... where he is now buried.

BluestarsI have been reading several interesting articles on the web about where Columbus first landed. The long-time accepted location is San Salvador, of course. However, Samana Cay and a few other places are discussed as possibilities. So, I have written to ask Brilanders for the definitive answer. Where did Coumbus first land, San Salvador?
