The Briland Modem Fund announced this week the successful raise of $25,000 for the completion of the Briland Park sports lighting and landscaping, courtesy of two generous donations from members of the Harbour Island community who wish to remain anonymous ... the Bluff Community Computer Centre is the happy recipient of a gently-used Dell laptop ... the Fund's development director, Mandy Barton, will be getting married in Napa Valley on 13 April to the irrepressible Butch Clark ... 10 iMac computers generously donated by the American School of London ** thanks to the efforts of longtime Briland winter resident Pam Heilner ** have arrived in Nassau ... the Fund continues to solicit desktop and laptop computers for its ever-growing community centre network on Eleuthera ... co-owner Julie Lightbourn of Sip Sip Restaurant was recently featured in a new poem composed by Bahamian writer Obediah Smith ... ZNS producer LeDaunne Davis and Fund executive director Kimberly King-Burns are developing a legends documentary "Under The Fig Tree" that will start interviewing elders throughout the island, starting in November ... Commissioner Alex Flowers has been reassigned to Exuma, and Jolton Johnson is Harbour Island's newest central administrator. Comm. Johnson originally hails from Gregory Town, Eleuthera, and most recently worked in Inagua.
