Fig Tree News TeamFor information on next year's race, contact Tom Glucksmann at Bahamas Out Island Adventures,

GREGORY TOWN, ELEUTHERA. Sunday's Pineappleman Triathlon went off as planned despite Mother Nature's best efforts to spoil it.
When the sky cleared and winds quieted a strong contingent of athletes began the 400-meter swim in a very choppy Gregory Town cove.

First out of the water was Amber Weech, whose team would go on to take first place in the team division. Along with Ariel Weech and Deja Johnson the all-girls team was actually in first place until the start of the second lap of the 10-kilometer bike.
That's when Sam Brown, 52, of Nassau, passed them as he went on to take first place overall. Brown finished less than a second ahead of 17-year-old Kevin Richardson. Richardson put together a strong bike and even better 5-kilometer run to almost reel in his older competitor.

It was an extremely exciting race all around and one enjoyed by a throng of spectators lining the streets of Gregory Town.
We hope to do it again next year - bigger, better and improved.

Much thanks to all volunteers - excellent job!
And thanks to all participants - great job!
Hope to see you all again next year. Keep posted to this website and
for details about next year's race.

We hope to build upon this year's race and make it a great annual event.
