Fig Tree News TeamLloyd Johnson, Esq. (lawjohn@lawyer.com) of Governor's Harbour writes:

National historic listing now available to property owners

The Bahamas Government has introduced a national historic listing category for owners of houses over 50 years old.

Such persons are entitled to duty-free exemptions on imported building materials for restoration of existing buildings.

Additionally, Real Property Taxes are waived for a period of 20 years from the date of the "listing" and you get a formal certificate signed by the Secretary for Revenue of the Bahamas.
