Fig Tree News TeamName: Alicia Pinder
School: Spanish Wells-All Age
Grade: 9

With a Grade Point Average of 3.72, Alicia Pinder is indeed one of the finest, smart kids at the Spanish Wells All-Age School, in Eleuthera, and one who has been at the top of her class her entire time at the institution.

Described as a well-rounded student who is devoted to her studies, officials at the school say that Alicia can be considered a role model to the other students.

She has also been described as a well-rounded person, who not only makes time to ensure that she is academically sound, but participates on the baseball team, and plays the saxophone in the community band.

Alicia, whose favorite subject is Mathematics, is looking forward to taking her Bahamas Junior Certificate Examinations, and proposes to sit the maximum of seven offered by her school - Mathematics, English Language, Religious Studies, Social Studies, Health Science, General Science and Home Economics. Of course, being the smart kid she is, Alicia is expecting to ace them all.

As the daughter of Chuck and Suzy Pinder looks ahead to her future, Alicia currently has her sights set on becoming a pediatrician.

Name: Kendera Bethell
School: Deep Creek Middle
Grade: 9

"One of the most admired students, by both faculty and students - and a true leader," is how ninth grade student Kendera Bethell has been described by one of her teachers at Deep Creek Middle School, which is definitely a huge honor.

And it's praise that Kendera definitely lives up to, as she maintains a perfect Grade Point Average of 4.00, and participates in a number of extra curricular activities, playing softball in the Rock Sound league, and singing in her church choir. Plus, the smart kid finds time to perform in the Student Government Association, as her class representative.

Other teachers at the Eleuthera school have described this shining star as "motivated, creative, capable and humorous. And Kendera is presently studying to sit five Bahamas Junior Certificate Examinations in Mathematics, English Language, Social Studies, General Science and Health Science.

The daughter of Mr and Mrs Kennedy and Patricial Bethell hopes to one day become a lawyer.
