|Ocean Fox||To those underwater addicts out there, a quick taste of what you missed this month!
After a run of bad weather, we finally managed to get out and dive towards the end of the month. Our Thanksgiving Day Dive was so popular that we ended up breaking our 6-Diver rule to keep everyone happy. At 10am Jef and Andy took 10 divers to the Grotto and each took a group of 5 divers on an explore. The visibility was pushing 70ft, and the fish life was intense. Chubs and Jacks made several passes around us in the mid-water, whilst a large school of Grunts parted to allow the divers a better look at the healthy coral growth. Andy's group had the good fortune of having a large reef shark show up to get a closer look at the bubble-blowing creatures, before swimming slowly off into the blue.
Saturday's dive was the best yet this season. 5 divers accompanied Andy on a rare trip to the Grouper Hole. The conditions were perfect - a flat ocean, visibility of 100ft+, and no current...yes, that's right...NO current!
We were rewarded with a close encounter with a 4ft reef shark, a lazy turtle swimming along one of the ledges, a green moray eel greeting us as we passed under one of the many over-hangs, and schools in the hundreds of Jacks and Chub. We were also very pleased to see a healthy Grouper population - lets hope the Government's new ruling banning fishing at grouper breeding grounds is effectively enforced.
So, it was a great close to a fun month diving around Briland. We look forward to taking many of you diving in December when you visit for the next round of holidays!
