brilandbeautyLMAO....UA, you have got to be the biggest JA this side of the world and your theories are ridiculous!!! In a nut shell you are implying that we are sabotaging our livlihood and "running off" our bread and butter ...to decrease property value!!! So, when we decrease the property and render it invaluable...who then can we sell it too??? Subsequently, won't the new owners become what we've "ran off"...winter residents and or permanent residents? Stupid!!

UglyAmericanBoth fires were arson caused by local Briland residents as a sort of twisted "revenge" against the "winter residence" (sic) for bringing limited prosperity to the island. The objective of these Briland arsonists is to drive down tourism and property values on the island so as to discourage foreigners from buying/owning property on the island.

KimberlyWe're waiting for an official report from the police and fire investigators. Local sentiment seems to suggest that the Maritz fire was electrical, as was the fire in Arkie Busson's office (witnesses were there when it started), but that no conclusion has yet been made with regard to the Sea Dream house off Dunmore Street.

We'll post updates as they become available.

ladyslimIs funny that two houses burned in the space of two days, thats arson...the police needs to do a serious investigation soon and very soon

Sea WeedI think that we should just wait for the official report from the Police. It's not nice to just say what ever about these FIRES because it can happen to any one. Those two HOUSES is a major lost to the owners and their families.

Thank you, Donna, for sharing these exceptional photos with us. Stay tuned for images of the Sea Dream house fire as well, closer to the Barracks Hill ballpark. Again, congratulations to all fire brigade volunteers for helping ensure that the fires stayed contained.

KimberlyWow. I have heard several rumours, but that isn't one of them. You got that locally?
Posted by:Oct 25th 2009, 02:13:14 pm
Tuck Shopfriendly fire = self started insurance fire ???
Posted by:Oct 25th 2009, 01:57:11 pm
Fig Tree News TeamMany thanks go out to the all-volunteer fire team at both houses, led by Captain Jefferson Johnson on the fire truck. Volunteers included Cookie Ross, Harry Neely, Sharon Johnson, Spooner Grant, Lawrence Thompson, Mitchell Bain, Ellen Roberts, Leah and Jeremiah Neely, Rasheed Culmer, Donameche Darville and Donovan Cleare. Donovan was one of the first people to spot the fire at Sea Dream near Barracks Hill.

Harry did excellent work, and was the last man on site at the Maritz house. Local government council is investigating the fires, Nassau Underwriters is on hand, and CID should be on the scene from Nassau momentarily.

KimberlyWhat's a "friendly" fire? Given the power surges we face on a regular basis, I am frankly surprised that more house fires aren't sparked.
