Here is an update of the activities of The Commonwealth Writers of The Bahamas.
On Saturday, October 2, 2009 there were two meeting held at Chapter One Book Store at The College of The Bahamas.
Junior Writers Work Shop stated at 2:00 PM with Guest Speaker, Thea Rutherford, Feature Writer at the Nassau Guardian.
Adult Writers Meeting started at 4:00PM, with Guest Speaker Gaylene Forbes, Script Writer and Kevin Turnquest, Audio Productions, Featured Documentaries.Both meetings were informative. We now have the Media, Script Writer, and Audio Professional available for persons who wish to take their Writing to another level.
Membership Fees are past due for Adults and Junior Writers. kindly up date by calling for a personal pick up (3247521)
or mail to: Commonwealth Writers,P.O. Box EE 16658, Nassau, Bahamas.These Fees are important to our Non-Profit Organization.
Kindly assist us in finding Sponsors for our Radio Program "Writing The Region". This half hour Program is on 1540 ZNS Radio Bahamas at a cost of $250.00.We encourage Writers to advertise their Books at this time for a smaller fee. The show is heard, on the first Wednesday.
The Fourth Annual Short Story/Poetry Competition begins tomorrow, November 2/2009. Official launch date is Saturday, November 7Th, 2009. The meeting is tentatively set for Chapter One Book Store. We are requesting all Writers, and families of Bahamian Writers in the 20Th Century to participate in the Black and White Photographic Exhibition . This event will be held a week before our National Story Tellers Convention in February.
Kindly let us know as soon as possible.
The Second Annual Story Tellers Convention, Feb. 19th/20th, 2010, will be held under the theme "Many People, Many Islands, One Bahamas".. We are show casing every Island, in Music, Story Telling and Dance, so if you would like to represent your Island, kindly email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 3247521.
We are inviting everyone, Adult members, friends in Nassau and overseas, Parents and Junior Writers to participate and make these events fun times for all. Junior Writers will be given a choice of Bahamian Island to research and prepare for the Story Tellers Convention.
