|Fig Tree News Team||As discussed, the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation has been mandated to assist with the regulation of the Fly Fishing Industry within The Bahamas. To this end, our Sustainable Tourism Department working along with Mr. Benjamin Pratt and other industry partners has undergone a revamping exercise of the current Fly Fishing course to include sustainable practices along with other pertinent information pertaining to the Fly Fisherman.
However, persons interested in becoming a certified Fly Fishing guide must have the prerequisite Class B Boat Captain's License.
To date we have visited islands such as Exuma, Crooked Island and Acklins Island where over 60 individuals underwent one week of training to obtain their Class B Boat Captain License. At the end of the course, a final examination is administered by a representative of the Port Department. As safety is a major aspect of concern for many of the boaters and patrons, at the end of the Class B Boat Captain's Course, The Bahamas Red Cross administers a First Aid Certification Course.
Our next proposed island is Eleuthera. To this end, we are seeking your support in identifying and registering interested persons on your respective island for the upcoming course.
We would like to host the course on Eleuthera within the next two weeks.
Here are some of the details for the Course
Tentative date : between the weeks of the 28th March and the week of the 4th April, 2011
Course instructors : Caribbean Mariners Training Institute (Captain Ralph Saunders and Captain Johnson)
Cost: $420 per person (inclusive of training materials and first aid safety certification)
For your reference, a copy of the registration form is attached.
Should you require further explanation regarding the above referenced, please contact Mr. Earlston McPhee or Ms. Janel Campbell via telephone (242) 356-6965/7 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com .
