|Fig Tree News Team||The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will hold a Regional Seminar on Tourism: Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Tourism Development in the Caribbean Region August 31 to September 1, 2011 at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort.
The target audience for the seminar will include government and private sector representatives of SMEs within the Caribbean region, coupled with experts interested in sharing their experiences regarding how tourism related SMEs can enhance their competitiveness in a global environment.
In addition to local presenters, there will be Regional and International presenter from the Caribbean Tourism Organization, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and a number of Regional Development Agencies.
The overall objectives of the seminar are:
•To have regional experts share their experiences of Caribbean tourism SMEs and the challenges that are encountered in maintaining their competitive edge in a dynamic global environment as well as best practices.
•Analyze tourism trends from a regional and global perspective and show their influence on the growth and development of tourism SMEs.
•To have Caribbean representatives from both private and public sectors share their experiences in promoting touristic SMEs
•To provide an opportunity for Bahamian tourism related SMEs to discuss some of the impediments to their success in enhancing their competitiveness as well as their success stories.
•Provide a forum for Caribbean tourism related SMEs to network
