Business Spotlight - The Landing Hotel & Restaurant

The Landing, a gracious, historic property dating back to the 1800's, is located on Bay Street, in the heart of Dunmore Town, Harbour Island. The stately hotel overlooks the harbour and is a mere five minute stroll to the powdery, pink sand beach.

Founded in 1995, The Landing is owned and operated by a Bahamian mother and daughter team - Brenda and Tracy Barry. The Barrys, having lived abroad, have now brought their international experiences home to create a unique, high quality Bahamian tourism product. Their attention to detail, warm display of hospitality and superior service have made the hotel and restaurant the world class establishment it is today.

This has come with its challenges though. In 1999 Hurricane Floyd hit them hard. The Barrys completely refurbished the property after the ravages of the storm, upgrading the facility to its present acclaimed status.

Many Bahamians will probably recognise Brenda Barry as the first Miss Bahamas. Tracy has her own accomplishments to tout. Married to Australian Toby Tyler, who is a key element to the success of The Landing, they have three children: Alessandra - 10; Isabella - 5; and Quinn - 13 months.
