KimberlyThanks for the suggestion ... any excuse is a good excuse to go to West Marine, one of the truly great stores! I was also looking at Unidens and Raytheons, after feedback from the Abacoboard.

JimvpKimberly, I use an ICOM M45 and the cheapest Shakespeare antenna. They have worked well for many years. I like the M45 because it remembers the channel you monitor (other than 16) even through a power outage. If the radio is for fixed use, you will need a power supply also. West Marine is a good source for these items.
