peterebayThere are several Roberts families in Harbour Island and the rest of the Bahamas. Not all of them are related to each other. Some might have a common ancestor almost 300 years ago. If you are (or know of) a Roberts male with a Roberts ancestor from Harbour Island, you may qualify for a free DNA test to help prove which Roberts families are (or are not) related.

Two Bahamian Roberts' have been tested so far and are unrelated to each other. One family with ancestry in Key West and Marsh Harbour has been proven to descend from a Scottish Highland clan (Clan Donnachaidh) and has earlier Saxon roots. Another Roberts with ancestry in Key West, Green Turtle Cay, and Harbour Island currently has no close matches with six other (non-Bahamian) Roberts families tested so far with origins in the British Isles. His line is known to be of Celtic origin.

Please contact Peter Roberts at peterebay @ yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Thank you and sincerely, Peter
