JudyOur Second Annual Book Festival will be held on Saturday, March 27, on the grounds of the Sir George W. K. Roberts Memorial Library grounds. Flags will be flying and the tent and umbrellas up. The day will be a celebration of books and reading. Beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting till 2 p.m. guest readers will be sharing their favorite books - half of the readers will be sharing books for children, the other half their favorite adult books.
Readers are scheduled for every half hour, each reader selecting a chapter or portion to read. A schedule of readers will be posted as you enter the grounds to choose from. In addition this year, the children will be invited to "illustrate" their favorite character or scene in paint at stations along the library wall. This we call "Library Art" - young artists in the making. There will be a Big used book sale under the tent, a photo display of Harbour Island scenes and people and refreshments under the Banyan Tree. Alice and the White Rabbit will definitely be in attendance as will be Clifford! Be on the look out for other colorful characters!!
From 3 to 5 p.m. in the Arbor we will be taping "Reflections of Harbour Island" - part of our History Project. We have invited many of the older residents to share their favorite stories or recollections of Briland in an informal round table setting. Their thoughts will then be housed in the library for later generations to hear.
This will be a great day for reading and Harbour Island. Bring a friend or take a child's hand and come - join in the fun. March 27th, be there!
