chapelToday's meeting notes, courtesy of Harbour Island district councillor Harvey Roberts:

"We just had an emergency preparedness meeting at -3pm- in the courthouse, with the new administrator Mr. Alex Flowers.

"All the sub-committees are in place, the hurricane shelters (five) have been identified, we have a satellite phone in place in the police station, the courthouse will be command centre, and we also have eleven hand held VHF sets.

"We are just about ready, and yes we are hoping and praying that Frances passes us by without incident."

Harvey and several other local businesses, second homeowners have volunteered to man the satcom phone hurricane network should the storm take out traditional telephone and cellular communications networks.

Stay tuned ... and keep praying --
