|Fig Tree News Team||Morning, Kim
The calm before the storm! The weather here in Briland is beautiful, it surely is a georgous day.
I've discovered that we have several satphones on the Island, and the Hurricance Committee will be able to use them to communicate with Briland.com if needs be.
Most of the hotels have closed and guests have left for their homes. Both Marinas are empty, and it certainly looks strange to see that sight. The fishermen have begun to pull their boats up into their yards. The garbage barge has left for Nassau to be secured at The Defence Force Base.
Folks are beginning to slowly secure their houses, lots of the winter residents' houses on Bay Street and the beach are already secured, now the locals are beginning to put up shutters on their homes, and one can notice the difference in the community.
I honestly believe that we here in North Eleuthera will get a fair share of Frances.
The hurricane shelters will be located at and managed by:-The Methodist Church (Lizzie Mackey) St. John's Church(Cheryl Johnson) The Day Nursery (Veronica Adderley)
Catholic Centre (Laura Lewis-Higgs) and the Public Library (Godfrey Kelly).
