Hey, Nancy --
No offense taken as to your comments on the board. You're right, we don't endorse certain hotels or businesses over others, but at the Accommodations link on the FAQs [frequently-asked questions] button on the site, you can check out the various hotels' websites for yourself. Since it's a community board, it wouldn't be fair to single out one resort or business over another. I grew up on the island, and if anything am especially careful to be objective because 1. my family still lives there, 2. my grandfather built the Coral Sands back in the 40s, and folks expect me to be somewhat partial to the new owners, 3. we want to showcase all of Harbour Island and offer a comfortable portal where the island business folks don't feel as though they're competing with each other.

Everyone has their own preference: Pink Sands is singularly lovely; Coral Sands has the best location, being right in the middle of the beach; Romora Bay is absolutely beautiful, on the harbourside; Ma Ruby's Tingum Village is charming, with local island flair; The Landing is a gorgeous old colonial building on the bayside, right in the middle of the dock action; Runaway Hill is quaint and quiet and beautiful overlooking the ocean; Dunmore Beach is an elegant hideaway on the beachside; Valentine's Yacht Club is right in the middle of the bayside action, and offers full-service SCUBA; Bahama House is a brand-new B&B located in a lovely old house in the middle of town; Berletta's Cottages are another great option at the outskirts of town, but close to the beach; Grant's Cottages are a popular bet for competitive budgets. If I've left anyone out, I apologize.

Hope this gets you off to a good start. You can also check out the Ministry of Tourism's overview at www.bahamas.com.

Have a great visit --
Kimberly
