: We're celebrating as fast as our fingers can thaw!!!! It has been an extraordinarily chilly December here, and sweatshirts, sweaters and GLOVES have been spotted on the various runways at Gusty's, Valentine's, Harbour Island Marina and Vic Hum. Everyone's got quite a good sense of humour about it all, but space heaters have become quite the commodity around here.

: The Boxing Day Junkanoo was first rate, with exceptional costumes and music to match. Duke Davis and Franklyn Barry deserve a round of applause for putting together such an excellent display. Today's New Year's Day, and we're looking forward to heading down to the fig tree around 5:30p or so to see the Junkanoo rushing. Speaking of the fig tree, the community is jazzed to have the new tree in place. It's going to take a while for the roots to catch and the leaves to really burst into bloom, but the new tree is a good-sized replica for which everyone is grateful.

: The New Year's Eve festivities -- once everyone emerged from their warm and cosy homes -- took off at the Valentine's dock, with a fireworks display off of the Romora dock complementing the boating countdown at midnight. Eardley, Gregory, Wade and Lorenz of the Hogheads band rang in the New Year in excellent style.

: More later, as Internet access gets easier to come by. Speaking of the 'Net, we've held several free e-mail workshops at the computer center, and many, many kids and adults are now sporting e-mail accounts. Most of the new IDs seem to center around the Los Angeles Lakers, but heyyy ... we're having fun here!

: See you soon --

Hi, Kimberly,
We wish we were on Briland with you all
to bring in 2001.
We had 10 inches of snow on New Year's Eve.
It's a winter wonderland for sure.
Keep those mittens on and have a great time!
Mimi
