ROOTS of JUNKANOO! sounds of da culture rushin’ through --
ROOTS’ Goombay drums up Nassau’s Bay Street

Now not only will the “ROOTS of Junkanoo” be heard on Bay Street but also as part of one of the world’s most popular sporting events this coming Sunday, 18 January. Indeed, the rich ancestral culture of the Bahamas can well mount the stage of Life and take a deep bow as Junkanoo, its most dynamic festival, primes itself to become a major feature on the pre-Super Bowl 2001 entertainment roster.
Performers will include ROOTS Junkanoo Group, one of Nassau’s leading Junkanoo groups, in collaboration with the Tallahassee Bahamas Junkanoo Group, Florida-based Junkanooers consisting primarily of Bahamian-descended Florida A&M University students and Tallahassee community residents. The groups have been invited to do a Junkanoo Rushout at the Corporate Hospitality Village at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on January 28th, Super Bowl Sunday, as part of the pre-Super Bowl 2001 entertainment.
