Hi there The PM,
Hoping that you and other readers are well today.
Thanks for your comments on our efforts to detail some of the highlights on our Island and in our country. I will look into some of those inquiries and let you know whats happening in that regard. The catches of many of the fishermen here have been encouraging. I am told by several of them that quantities of fish, grouper a still out there in numbers and they are not discouraged at this point. As for lobster the catches have been consistent but the quantities are not increasing. They do have to go out quite a distance to realise greater catches of fish and lobster, conch etc. now adays. This adds to the costs. There will be further limitations placed on them soon as the naturists, perhaps rightly so implement fishing reserve protected parks like the ones in Exuma. This action will increase the cost of fish, we know that much..I'm not aware of the sucesses of the Spanishwells fishermen now adays...There have been several shark sightings by fishermen this year, although new regulations for the dumping and baiting up of sharks in the surrounding community areas hve been prohibited by the local government board. That has helped greatly with shark sightings in swimming area of the harbor. As time goes on and more information is gathered it will be posted both on www.tarpumbay.com www.1800eleuthera.com on the Tarpumbaytoday daily news page. Postings and articles will also be regurlarly updated on our www.themestreamcom columns. Thanks for you continued interest and suggestions for upcoming news articles..
