Excellent pointage, my man. When one is in another man's culture, one must do the best to respect that culture, which did not seem to happening in this case. And I'm sure that the condescending attitudes helped provokes even more fury within the local Cat Island community no doubt. The Bahamas are the Bahamas for solid good reason, and am glad for same.
