After all of the posting I did over the last few years, trying to make the most out of my Bahamas visits, I finally get to write about giving something back, in a way, to that beautiful corner of the world. I met a family on Harbour Island, several years ago, by the name of Delahey. Even after they sold "The Alamanda", to reside in their permanent home in Nassau, I have continued to include visits to them during my yearly vacation to the Bahamas, especially to get to know their son, of my age, who lives at home, Richard (the Lobsterbread man). In January, I went on an additional short vacation, to take Richard up on his invite to visit another island. He wanted to take me to Abaco, because he knows how much I loved HI. We went to Marsh Harbour and stayed four wonderful days. We took ferries on the two full days we had, one to Hope Town, and the other, to Guana cay the next day. In the evenings we went to Sappodilly's. On Sunday, most things were closed, so we couldn't do much, but had a beautiful time just being there. On Monday, a relative (Penny Turtle!) treated us to a sumptuous lunch at Boat Harbour Marina, and gave us a ride to the airport.I really believe he did his very best to show me the finest of what his watery world has to offer. Now I get to return the favor! I found an affordable window of travel time in April for him to come and visit, and he moved on it quickly and found it to be true, on his end. He actually found tickets from NAS to BWI for under $400. He'll be here for two weeks, smack in the middle of April. My mind is a jumble of places I have to choose from to take him. Assateague? our Aquarium? (he's done DC) Of course, he's no help! When asked, he politely requests only to be taken somewhere for a good soft crab sandwich. So much to do, so little time! I could never top what he's done for me in his world, in mine, although I have two weeks to do my best. I know, in the end, that all we both will really want is to go back to Abaco, as soon as possible! Any suggestions? What would a Bahamian want to do here in Baltimore, that I may not have thought of? He'll be ready for a vacation (his first in many years) when he gets here. He's cooking bar food every night at the Last Quarter, between now and then, feeding the hungry spring breakers, and then working various odd jobs, during the day. I'll not plan too much, just want to have options. I don't even know if his driver's license is legal, here. Most of the questions posed on these boards come from the opposite perspective!(LOL)I got some really good ideas from the interknowlege board. Fells point is a must, and a mall, for sure! In any case, I can't wait! I'm sure it will be fun and memorable for both of us. Always with sand in our shoes - Kelly
