Why don't you organize a few international student fundraisers right there at the college? Bahamian food-cookoffs, history trivia contests, Junkanoo rushouts or calypso music dance nights are inexpensive enough to put together on your own, without needing any outside sponsorship. I'm sure that your Student Union is willing to help you get started. You've got a great idea, and I'm sure that you'll find that a great many students are interested in learning more about the history and culture of the Bahamas. In any case, I'm sorry that the anonymous poster chose to embarrass you instead of encouraging you.
