Copy the text of the message that you'd like to translate, and then paste it into the window you see at the world.altavista.com site. Choose the language [Spanish, German, whatever] the original text is, and select the translation mode for German to English, Spanish to English ... et voila! It won't be a perfect translation, but it'll give you an approximation of what is being discussed.
