: We bring a cooler with lunch meats, cheese, etc. when we go to Harbour Island. Sometimes they inspect it, sometimes they don't.

Dont get to B.com too often.. but when I do I find a world of mis-information on some subjects. Fortunately most is minor stuff,, but not all,

AS a matter of interest ANY fresh (that is not frozen or dried) plant, vegetable, etc etc may NOT
be brought into this country without an Agricultural Permit. If Customs finds any such thing they may consficate it. Likewise you are required to declare it first... Now whether, at the moment, you come thru this may not be found and therefore not consficated is something you can not hang your hat on. There are good reasons for rules and regulations like this and FRankly I do not feel it proper for anyone to suggest "circumventing" the law... but I feel especially strong about foreigners suggesting this course of action...and, obviously
therefore participting in same themselves. BEt Customs would be ingterested in seeing names of those making such suggestions. BE careful!
Note that meats and some other fresh food items are allowable for entry, without a permit, when brought in for personal consumption. All should check on what is and what isn't!!!
