IBM Nassau has developed a solid program for the summer training sessions at the computer center on Harbour Island. Please review the proposed curriculum with teachers and other interested professionals on the island, and let me know whether you will in fact be participating in the July workshop. Folks from all three centers -- Harbour Island, Gregory Town and Bluff will be participating, and all interested students and adults are encouraged to apply for one of the eighteen openings.
With the launch of the training program, we will be encouraging the development of a program with local businesses -- resorts, government offices, grocery stores, the community center expansion to the library, shops, hardware stores, galleries, restaurants et al. -- that could then benefit from working with these folks that have been trained to support computers. We'd like to propose an islandwide internship program wherein these 'graduates' can work part-time with companies on the island needing their assistance. Your thoughts and support are much appreciated.

We are suggesting that we spend an entire week training, allow the students to implement the training received for a two week period and then we return for a two day debrief to address and issues and/or challenges that would have arisen. The training would comprise of the following:
Day 1 Hardware Overview
We would teach how to assemble the computers, set them up in a network and troubleshoot basic problems.
Day 2&3 Operating System
Introduction to the Operating System and use of the commands.
Day 4&5 Internet
Use of Internet browsers and other internet applications.
Day 6&7 Review
