News from www.tarpumbay.com:
Although things on Eleuthera Island are relatively quiet. You would not suspect that a cresendo toward a busy, wonderful, fun holiday was building up. That is because for the most part the party crowd are not here from Nassau and the remainder of the Family Islands around the Bahamas as yet. The July 10th holiday weekend is fast approaching and two settlements in particular will be taking the opportunity to hold their annual homecoming events. They are the settlements of Savannah Sound and The Bluff Eleuthera. The two settlements are about sixty miles apart but usually attract some of the same people who love the long scenic drive up and down the Island of Eleuthera from Spanish Wells in the North to Bannerman town in the south. Driving along the Island of Eleuthera’s waterfront Queens highway is like being lost in a postcard and is quite a soothing experience viewing continuously the clear blue Caribbean sea as one drives from one settlement to the other any day of the year. This scenery is quite beautiful, tranquil and stunning to the eyes.

As for the homecomings they continue to grow from year to year in size and attendance attracting hundreds of families and expatriate Eleutherians and Bahamains back home to their settlements as a reminder of the great place we all have descended from during our life time. Eleuthera, the island, is a tropical splendor and a place where many loving, beautiful are proud to be a part of. Many of our visitors are left baffled after their visit thinking of a way for which they can return here to live permanently. There is hardly a way presently, sad to report. We would like to see however many of these loyal Eleutherians return home one day. So home comings provide for them a temporary place for them to take solace in seeing long lost members, family and friends alike during the busy fun homecoming weekends.

So in about only a weeks time Savannah Sound and The Bluff Eleuthera willl be hosting their homecomings. These events on the 10th of July weekend and the homecoming of Tarpum Bay and Hatchet Bay on the august first weekend will be quite memorable times. These times quite frankly are some of the best fun time ever had in the Bahamas. Visitors are encouraged to hang loose and let themselves feel free to enjoy the freedom, tranquillity and peace which is still unique and a continuous source of pride for all Eleutherians.
