So, this 8 year old boy in Florida gets his arm ripped off by a bull shark
while playing in knee high water. So, after getting the kid out of the
water and lifeguards begin performing emergency first aid, the uncle of the
boy, goes back into the water and wrestles this 7 foot shark to shore. A
park ranger then shoots the shark in the head 4 times to kill it and they
extract the arm from the shark's mouth. At the hospital they are able to
re-attach the arm and the boy, though in critical condition, appears to be
doing as well as can be expected.
Now, the part that amazes me is the uncle. Bull sharks are considered one
of the four most dangerous sharks in the world. In fact, if I'm not
mistaken, they account for most shark attacks worldwide (see clip from
Australia Museum's site). And this wasn't some baby shark, it was a good 7
footer probably weighing in at over 200 pounds. Rambo doesn't have anything
on this dude.
