I don't recall saying that making money is SACRED for heaven's sake! I'm talking about who's got the right to tell Bahamians what is in "their" best interest! Why does everyone feel the need to go back and forth about this! Is there a drycleaning school in Nassau? According to someone who posted there is such a building boom on the island that people have to come over from Eleuthera- Tilers, masons etc seem to have plenty work- Should they open a training facility on Briland and not let Eleutherans in? Do you tell the families who've opened up golf-cart rental businesses that they have to go become plumbers? I mean where does this kvetching stop? I don't mean that there aren't concerns, but do I , as an American visitor to Harbour Island feel qualified to come up with ideas on how the people of the Bahamas should run their country ? Am I responsible for "my culture" doing damage to theirs? If we are all the bad influence than why do we all have the authority to come up with ideas on how to "fix" things! Okay! It's $$$ to get old rusted cars off the island and the average owner can't hire a boat to take it away (as if there is somewhere for it to go!), make sculptures out of them and sell them!!! Whatever! Did you guys know that there has been air service to Harbour Island since 1941?! Seems to me that things could be a lot worse! And BB i suggest you read all the comments before attacking one simple idea I mentioned because nothing is ever simple nor is it simply explained. The problems of the Bahamas are the problems of the world and the only difference is that we all love Harbour Island, when we aren't there we dream about it and feel like the luckiest people in the world for having "discovered" it.
