Easy now. I do happen to live on an island as well and we are fighting overdevelopement tooth and nail. Our Marlyand "island paradise" turns into a gridlocked traffic jam on summer weekends. Just thank God you don't a bridge to Nassau! I have been going to HI for some time now and it is like being with family more than a vacation. The more HI loses that feeling and becomes more like Nassau-lite the more people like me will go elsewhere and the more "ugly American" tourists you will get. I was just offering my opinion anyway, in answer to a question. I have no power to come take your cars away. The HI residents might read what I wrote and keep it in mind when they think of what is best for them as the humble opinion of one visitor. You are right that many Americans have "ruined" their own neigborhoods. Why not learn from our mistakes instead of repeating them?
