Hi again Flounder,

There will always be an "establishment" of sorts when people have a common cause. Instead of "establishment", they are usually referred to as groups, committees or councils, etc. It still means the same. That is the most efficient way of getting projects successfully accomplished -- people working together. The common causes that I mentioned in my first message are all good. As you said, a common cause can be equally bad too.

I believe that most of us resist change, especially when we get older. That's one of many reasons why we should encourage young people to be more active in community affairs.

There is not a thing in your message to Otis that I could possible disagree with. I especially appreciate the two statements containing the words "positive and helpful" and "give them encouragement". Both are essential concepts in almost any worthwhile project. In my opinion, these two concepts are diametrically opposite to PM's practice.

How about you for the "change agent" position on HI? It looks like you have given these ideas a lot of thought. I would vote for you if I were lucky enough to be a resident.

Best Regards

David

PS

You must get a little tired of us outsiders offering our advice/comments when we have so many problems of our own that we ignore.

:
: I didn't say "stale" establishment? Like it or not, there's an establishment, sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes stale, sometimes vibrant, it's not organized per se, but it has an effect on almost everything decided in a small community...everyonce in while, someone should shake up the establishment to effect change, real change, that's positive and helpful, not just change to be different or disruptive, because the "establisment" gets intrenched in status quo and protecting their terf...so you need to make them look " outside the lines" for solutions etc.
: You need a "change agent" in HI, but that takes courage and leadership to effect real change and bring about new approaches to old problems...He or She is out there, you just need to wake them up and give them encouragement.
