Hi, Bill, yes we are ok. We live far enough uptown to be spared the immediate horror of dealing with the chaos. We often spend the weekend in the area around the Trade Center shopping and eating in Chinatown, so we know the area very well.
We watched in horror the events of yesterday and realized that the plane that hit the tower flew right over our apartment building on it's way, I remember hearing a loud plane overhead, but of course did not realize the significance.
We can see the smoke from our apartment windows and "ground zero" is 5 miles away.
I have to say New Yorkers around us have been amazing, the lines for giving blood are hours long, and we are planning on giving blood today.
The city is erie, very little noise, few people on the streets, little traffic. Think we are all in shock, nationwide, and have lost our innocence.
I am sure when we know all the details, Paul and I will know someone lost, we knew alot of people who worked at the Trade Center.
I pray that all the families devastated by this tragedy will be comforted in time. We know just how lucky we are it could have been us in the chaos just as easily.
