: What is a visual flight? Visual flight means you fly when and where you want without clearances from air traffic control. You must not fly in clouds so you can see. Most tourists to the Bahamas fly this way. To fly with an instrument clearance, which is what is required to fly a private aircraft to or from the Bahamas right now, the pilot must hold an appropriate rating, have current experience, and fly a properly equipped aircraft. If the requirement for instrument flight plans is not rescinded whent he tourist season opens it will be bad for the Bahamian economy. This is our 5th year of coming to H.I. in Sept/Oct!
