: : If commercial airline service continues unabated, hopefully we will see the regular seasonal visitors return as in past years. Let us
: : hope that is the case. We need the joys and the
: : peace of Harbour Island more than ever! How are the Christmas season/New Years bookings at the hotels?

: UPDATE ON COMMERCIAL AIRLINE SERVICE INTO NORTH
: ELEUTHERA:

: CONTACTED BOTH USAIR, CONTINENTAL EXPRESS (GULFSTREAM) THIS AFTERNOON. ALL FLIGHTS ARE
: OPERATING ON SCHEDULE (ACCORDING TO AIRLINE AGENTS WITH WHOM WE SPOKE). RESERVATIONS ARE HEAVY FOR THE COMING SEASON!! DISCOUNTED SEATS
: ARE GONE FOR FEBRUARY TRAVEL VIA USAIR (SO THEY SAY!). IT COULD BE WORSE...AT LEAST VISITORS CAN
: STILL GET TO BRILAND!!!..SPREAD THE WORD, FOLKS!

: : We just returned from a long weekend on H.I. and haven't seen it that slow in the last 5 years. No tourists. Almost no "homeowners". The Bohengy is in drydock. Arthur's is closed so there's no raisin bread. They say the airlines are bringing in just a handful of people per flight so flight cancellations won't be a surprise. Visual flights by private aircraft are still prohibited. I'm concerned about how this "air travel problem" is going to affect the people on H.I. We need to "talk it up" and get new people to replace those who won't put out the effort to get there! Regatta this year apparently will not even pretend to be a boating event and will be called "Homecoming".
