I am planning on coming to HI in early Feb. and am obviously concerned having already purchased tickets to fly into ELH. I called the number for the ministry of tourism list in a previous post, and the said "of course the airport wont be closed" but when I pressed the person on the phone she asked me to hold and transferred me into a voice mail box that had no name attached to it. I was planning on sending my deposit for the house we are renting today but will wait to hear more. If it would help am willing to call and complain, I just need to know where it will do the most good as I doubt that the ministry of works department is as concerned about tourism revenue as others may be and was brushed off on my initial call to the ministry of tourism. We are even planning on bringing another family for their 1st visit and I doubt that they will be willing to come if the airport is closed as we all have small children.
: Apparently word on the street says the Aiprort closing has been delayed until Mid January.
