What an interesting thread this is. It is a great shame that my leaving Valentines Dive Centre (VDC) has resulted in such vitriolic exchanges among people who were at the very least tolerant of each other, if not friends.
Anyway, I feel I must set the record straight with regard to the information supplied in the message copied below.
I never had a work permit from VDC, although an application for one had been submitted in February 2001. Thus to claim that there was any discussion of the transfer of a work permit is factually incorrect. Furthermore, if I have to be off the island whilst my permit is being applied for, doesn't the same rule apply to employees of VDC? For example their new instructors...and Laura Bartenfelder (who put in her application for a spouse visa at the same time as she submitted the application for my work permit - NOTE: A spouse visa does not permit the holder to engage in any employment, yet Laura runs the office operations of VDC and pays herself for doing so. How is she able to cheat Immigration in this way?). So, to reiterate: Does this rule apply only to me? If so, why?
I have been stuck in Florida now for 2 weeks. JEF has been doing a sterling job trying to strighten this out so that I may return. In my mind, the owners of the two dive operations on Briland have revealed their true characters.

: No one turned Andy in...Immigration does not allow transfer of Work permits for anyone, thus Andy was put in a temporary situation of being without a permit until Fox or someone else applies for this permit and pays the $3500.00 per annum that is required for a Diver/Instructors permit, during that interval Andy has to be off the island...The ball is in Fox's hands, no one elses my friend.
