As of 4:45p EST on Thursday afternoon, Minister of Transport, Local Government & Aviation C.A. Smith announced that the promised repavement of North Eleuthera Airport will take place in gradual stages, so as to allow the airport to remain open at all times.
Great news all around.
Thanks to everyone who wrote the various ministries, government officials and media outlets to communicate their concerns as to the short- and long-term impact of such a closure --
