GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) - The U.S. government has lifted a suspension on flights to the United States by private
aircraft registered in nearby islands in the Atlantic and Caribbean.

These flights were stopped as a security precaution after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

In a written notice sent to airmen in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and Bermuda, the U.S.
Federal Aviation Administration said the flights could resume. The order was signed by FAA Air Traffic Customer Advocate
Thomas Davidson and was effective beginning Nov. 28.

A similar waiver also has been issued for planes registered in Mexico and Canada. All the planes must land in the United
States at designated ports of entry.

Aircraft registered in these places may also now operate within the United States under the same rules covering domestically
registered aircraft, the letter said.

The waiver is one of several incremental steps in restoring normal access to the U.S. airspace system, the FAA said.
