The latest update:
Bill Everett and the Books For Briland team would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Country Day School of Arlington, Texas and St. Alban's Episcopal School for their recent successful book drive for 1,000 books that will directly benefit their student counterparts on Harbour Island and Eleuthera. These schools' respective student councils sponsored the drive, made posters, decorated collection boxes to place around their schools, and sent letters home explaining the book drive to interested parents, and put information about it in their school newsletters. G&G Shipping of Dania, Florida has graciously waived their shipping charges for the books, which are being shipped next week.

As the indefatigable leader of the Books for Briland team, which directly supports the Every Child Counts initiative on Harbour Island and Eleuthera, Bill Everett hopes that this recent flurry of activity will "plant more seeds." Bill adds, "This is a good way for young people to learn that there is more to the The Bahamas than the glitz of The Atlantis or the casinos, or the Sandals all- inclusive holiday packages that they see on TV ads. The real treasure of the Bahamas is its friendly people and simpler life styles, away from all the neon noise of Nassau and Freeport."
