Fortunately, we're talking about the Regal Empress here and NOT Carnival Cruises. This is an elegant line, and as such I expect attracts a better-mannered class of traveller than those most often seen wandering around Rawson Square in Nassau, looking to score a good deal on straw trinkets. Juanita's piece mentioned that these folks went deep-sea fishing and exploring, which can only have benefitted the local Eleuthera scene. You're right to sound a cautionary tone, but I have a feeling that the wise folks of Eleuthera have learned a thing or two about what NOT to do tourism-wise from their counterparts in Nassau and Freeport. Time will tell us whether that is so ...
