: An appeal:

: Answer some of these questions first, before going off the deep end!

: What are the FACTS we know about this development?

AS STATED IN THE PETITION, AS RESEARCHED BY CHARLES CAREY.

: Have any planning or land use papers been filed in Nassau or Briland or elsewhere?

YES.

: Does anyone actually own the land or are they in the process of closing--or whatever the English term is when you buy land?

THE LAND TO BE USED FOR THE PROJECT IS CROWN LAND.

: Who is involved and how do we know they are involved?

THEY HAVE SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION FOR THE PROJECT TO HARBOUR ISLAND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

: What legal and regulatory permissions must they obtain before going ahead?

ALL OF THE VARIOUS MINISTRIES MUST SIGN OFF OF ON THE PROJECT, I.E. MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES, PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE, MINISTRY OF WORKS, ET AL.

: What public meetings must be held?

FIRST ONE SCHEDULED IS THE HARBOUR ISLAND TOWN MEETING ON 4 APRIL 2002.

: Who are the Nassau reporters--TV, radio and print--who would cover a story like this? What are their phone numbers and have they been contacted?

NOTED ON THE PETITION - VAUGHNIQUE TOOTE OF ISLAND FM; GUS SMITH OF THE NASSAU TRIBUNE; PATRIC WALKES OF THE NASSAU GUARDIAN, ETC.

: Which ministries have oversight? What regulations can be used to prevent or slow any action by the developer?

NOTED ON THE PETITION - AGRICULTURE, WORKS, TOURISM, FINANCE. THEY ALL WORK TOGETHER.

: Who are the environmental and land use activists in the Bahamas who would take such a cause on?

JUDIE REYNOLDS PUT TOGETHER AN EXCELLENT LIST OF THESE GROUPS, AND WILL BE POSTING TO THE BOARD. THE BEST COMMISSION, FOR ONE, IS THE MONITORING ENVIRONMENTAL AGENCY FOR ANY SUCH DEVELOPMENT OF WATERWAYS, BANKS ET AL.

: Have the various modelling agencies, models and TV/movie stars who have an interest in preserving the bank and the island's appearance been contacted?

NOT YET. WE WANTED TO WAIT TO SEE THE RESULT OF THE INITIAL TOWN MEETING BEFORE PURSUING THAT ROUTE.

: I hope this is of some help. If anyone would like help working the press, please let me know. Remember the first rule of journalism--reporters want facts first and opinions second!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OFFERING YOUR ASSISTANCE! WE'LL BE IN TOUCH!

: Colin
