YES, I know of Cabbage Key. I even have a brochure. This is a Key...possibly 1/4 to 1/2 mile long located in the "sounds"... our serious bonefishing area. About 6 years ago a concern was given either the rights or permission to develop it. They brought in bulldozers and made rough roads cutting the island up into what appears from the air as small checker board lots. The brochure shows a causeway from Eleutehra Mainland... palm trees and lovely islandy vacation homes.... NOTHING MORE THAN THE ROUGH ROADS WAS EVER DONE...AND THE HEAVY EQUIPMENT IS STILL THERE, RUSTED AND DETERIORIATED INTO ALMOST SOLID HUNKS NOW. Nothing has happened since,,just sits there looking like the devil. Fortunately time has caused growth to cover it a bit, but still visable from the air..and from boat. AT the time the brochure came out..or at the time I got a copy the work had already ceased..run out of funds and or enthusiasm I assume. AT THAT TIME I APPORACHED THE ISLAND COUNCIL (Eleuthera) about this mess..and the reported they knew nothing about it, had never been contacted, didn't know who why or where..nothing! THAT IS THE REASON I APPLAUD OUR TOWN COUNCIL HERE TODAY...FOR MAKING SURE THIS GIRLS BANK THING WAS BROUGHT OUT, AIRED, FLAUNTED...JUST SO NO BACK DOOR STUFF TOOK PLACE LIKE CABBAGE KEY AND PIGEON ISLAND (Mango Bay). BY THE WAY, THE GIRLS BANK PROPOSED PROJECT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.....But while on the subject, why not try to put together some supportive programme to clean up the entrance to the bank area that the fishermen use... It is a mess..and seems to stay that way. I wonder if it is fully understood just how important that bank is to us re bonefishermen doing their thing out there...The long haul theapy of that remaining a thriving factor is much more important to us than just the vision some narrow minds have of seeing "only five or six fishermen" out there!!!i A: Does anyone know Cabbage Cay, I am desperate to find out any information on it.
: I understand there is planning permission for 23 homes on the island? I am after
: some information on the design and build cost and details such as how materials could be shipped
: to the island, I am intrested in Water bungalows/villas. If anyone has a website which
: shows some examples and plans of how to build them, it would be much appriciated. I am also in desperate need
: of a scale map of Cabbage Cay (im understanding it is 10mins west of Harbour Island)
: which shows the island, surrounding islands and most importantly with a scale.
: Any other information and pictures would be much appriciated.

: Many Thanks
