: What I would like to know is how did Jeffrey Brown get access to all this land and no one else did. He owns just about all that land on the Southern part of the island. Is it that easy or possible for one man to purchase half of the island?

My groompa and your groompa had no vision besides having children and I guess being in bondage all of their lives. No disrespect but I think the youth of HI has a better oppitunity than their parents, grandparent, or even great grand parents, and they are just letting it drift away. There are a few young men and parents on the island who don't take advantage of the oppitunity of the friendship they have with most of the WEALTHY HOME OWNERS ON THE ISLAND. Instead of asking for clothing, try and further your education, its alright to read and write, but times are changing. For instance, there is NO MORE THAN FIVE QUALIFIED LICENCED CAPTAINS ON THE ISLAND. They might be qualifed but the key word is LICENCED, but non is under the age of 40/50. We need fresh blood, Thank God for those old timers, because there are only about 3 to 5 young persons who farm, all of that free land to farm, I'll farm on the main land and try to build a dream home on Briland, and be like the winter residence, rent it out weekly, monthly, bi yearly, make it pay for itself. But times are changing, the only thing we are into now our day is material thing than either rots, or perish.
