Remember the dozens of you who purchased Motorola's Iridium satellite phones through the Briland Modem board just after Hurricane Floyd hit back in September 1999? [Then Iridium went bust a few months later, and was down for a year or so before being picked up and dusted off by the heirs of Juan Tripp, who founded PanAm Airways.]
Well, Iridiums are online and operational again ... and I've just received an e-mail from the folks at Global Satellite Outfitters. It looks as though they have offered to upgrade The Briland Modem community's old Iridium satcom phones [era 1999 to date] for free.
